Need Help Disabling Power BI Autoscale After Premium Capacity Deletion

Our Power BI Premium subscription was canceled shortly after Autoscale was activated. Before disabling Autoscale, we had already removed the Premium capacity.
However, we are still being charged—presumably due to Autoscale still being active. How can we fully disable Autoscale and stop these ongoing charges?

  • You cannot cancel a Premium subscription - you have signed a contract for a certain duration, and that's how long you will pay.

Subscription cancellation (or suspension) can only be done for Fabric SKUs.

lbendlin Thank you for your response, But our Power BI Premium contract had ended, and we were utilizing the three-month grace period available during the transition to Fabric capacity.

    Hi Rahel ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

As correctly mentioned by lbendlin , any billing-related concerns, especially those involving Autoscale continuing after Premium capacity deletion, are best addressed directly with your Microsoft account team or support representative.

While Autoscale typically needs to be manually disabled before capacity deletion, any residual charges post-deletion during the grace period should be reviewed at the tenant level by Microsoft Support. Since you've already contacted Microsoft, please allow them some time to investigate and respond.

In the meantime, we appreciate you checking with the community your experience could help others going through a similar transition from Premium to Fabric.

    Thank you.

  • Rahel  Hey,

STep 1: I will Check the Autoscale Settings on Power BI Admin Portal

Look for the capacity settings where Autoscale might be enabled.
Ensure that Autoscale is indeed disabled. Sometimes the setting might be hidden once the premium capacity is removed, but confirming its status is a crucial step.

    step 2: Verify Billing Information:

Review your Azure subscription and billing details to ensure Autoscale services are not listed separately or under a different subscription or resource group.

    STep 3: Contact Microsoft Support:

Reach out to Microsoft billing support or your account representative to discuss the situation.
Provide them with details about the cancellation of the Premium subscription and ask for clarification about the ongoing charges.
They can assist with disabling Autoscale at their end if it's still showing as active in their systems.

    Thanks
