Moving files through Pipeline

When we create a report on desktop and publish it, we get 2 files in the power bi service - report and semantic model.

When I make changes to the report and leave the data untouched, should I move the semantic model file as well through the pipeline or is it enough to move only the report to the next environment ?

Hi,

If there's no change to the semantic model and no changes are shown on the comparison then you should only move the report through a deployment pipelines.

Hi @Kaviraj11 ,thanks for your quick reply, I'll add more.

Hi @Hoping ,

Regarding your question, I have  a test. If the semantic model that your report depends on is already in the next environment, then there is no need to move the semantic model additionally. Otherwise, you need to move the report together with its semantic model.
