Model size Limit In Workspace Level with PPU License
- 5 months ago
Hi Koritala,
At a high level the limit on model size is 100 GB per user. However the actual limit depends on the SKU purchased and Memory required for refreshing those models.
Please refer this URL for details on the limit - Power BI Premium Per User - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Hi Koritala
From our understanding it is that you will get one 100 GB of in memory usage in an app workspace. So if you are going to upload 10X10GB sizes you will then run out of memory. You can also look at how much memory your semantic models are using as shown in the example below.

Hey Koritala ,
With a Power BI Premium Per User (PPU) license, the main dataset/model size limit is 100 GB per semantic model when published to a PPU workspace.
Important details:
- A PPU workspace supports large datasets up to 100 GB.
- However, when uploading a .pbix file from Power BI Desktop to the service, the upload limit is 10 GB maximum per file — the same as Premium capacity workspaces.
- Once published with Large dataset storage format (and optionally incremental refresh), the dataset in the service can grow beyond that upload size up to the 100 GB PPU limit.
- The workspace itself doesn’t have a strict smaller quota; what matters is the dataset size and license type.
Important - You can publish large models in a PPU workspace, but your .pbix upload file can’t exceed ~10 GB and the model in the service can reach up to ~100 GB under PPU.
If it solved your issue, feel free to mark it as the solution so others can benefit too.
Thanks for being part of the community.
