Missing dataset help!
Hi,
This morning after getting to work, I noticed that a whole dataset is missing together with linked to it custom reports and dashboards.
The way I was publishing the PBI files was via Publish button on the Desktop. I have been doing it this way for many months, without problems. Last time I have published a new version of a data model was last Friday. No problems were noticed then untill today.
Has anyone else had such problem? It's a major issue, as it questions reliability of PBI as a reporting tool for a business!
Any suggestions how to restore it?

Hi Anonymous,
Can you answer below questions which may help to find out a root cause:
- Who is the owner of the workspace related to this dataset?
- How many users have access to objects in this workspace?
- What is the capacity type behind this workspace? Shared/Dedicated (Embedded)/Dedicated (Premium)?
- What was the source of that dataset? And where it was located? Did you use Data Gateway?

Ruslan

Hi Ruslan,
1. I was the owner of the workspace., there was one additional admin.
2. About 15 ppl had access to it.
3. Not only the dataset but the whole workspace has gone.It was premium.
4. Due to the complex set up, we have been publishing the data directly from the desktop without gateway.
We have used gateway for this workspace in the past, but doe to migration to new data warehouse taking place,, we had to revert back to simple publish option. We have been doing so, for last couple months without any problems (until now).

Anonymous,
It is good that you have Premium. So you can open a support ticket directly from Office 365 website for Power BI application.
In a period of a month, they should be able to recover your datasets, reports etc.
