Migrate Whole BI Report Into Excel
Hi all,
I have a Power BI report in Power BI Service / Microsoft Fabric that contains cards, textboxes, tables, and buttons.
I need to export the entire report into Excel in one go, but the current approaches I’ve tried are not meeting my requirements:
Power Automate: Only exports tables; cards and textboxes are not captured.
- Paginated Reports: Layout and visuals don’t match the original report.
Question:
Is there a recommended way or workaround to export a full Power BI report—including cards, textboxes, and buttons—into Excel while preserving the data structure and layout?Any suggestions or best practices would be greatly appreciated. This is very important for me as I need to load the report data into Excel.

There’s currently no direct option to export a complete Power BI report (including cards, text boxes, buttons, and visuals) into Excel. Excel can only handle tabular data, not the visual layout of a report.
Could you please try below points:

If you only need data: Use Export Data or Power Automate - this will export table data to Excel.

If you need the full layout: Use Export to PDF or PowerPoint -this keeps the exact report view and visuals.

If you want editable data in Excel: Use Analyze in Excel to connect directly to your Power BI dataset and recreate visuals using PivotTables.

For automation: Use the Power BI REST API with Power Automate to export reports to PDF or PPTX format.

If your goal is to view and work with all your report data in Excel, the best approach would be to use the “Analyze in Excel” option available in Microsoft Fabric / Power BI Service. This feature connects your Excel file directly to the semantic model behind your Power BI report, allowing you to explore the same data that powers your visuals.Here’s how you can try it:
- In the Fabric workspace
- Click on the More options( epsilon) beside the report and then click on Analyze in Excel.
This approach ensures you’re working with the same live data without needing to manually export visuals. While it won’t replicate the exact layout of cards or buttons, it gives full flexibility to rebuild the insights in Excel and refresh them dynamically whenever the Power BI dataset updates.
