Migrate Report to Premium Capacity Tenant

Hello, I don't imagine this is possible but thought I would ask in case.

In my tenant (Tenant A) we have a pro license, and a report that we would like to share with Tenant B.

Tenant B have a premium capacity workspace.

If I shared the report and semantic model with Tenant B, could they republish the report into their premium capacity workspace and refresh the semantic model?

The steps I have imagined in my head would be :

1.) Tenant A shares semantic model and report with Tenant B

2.) Tenant B downloads report and connects to shared semantic model as an external data source

3.) Tenant B republishes report in Premium Workspace

Is this possible or would Tenant B need to rebuild the report / build a new report from scratch once they have connected to the semantic model as an external data source?

Thanks

Hi @tb92 ,

Thanks for the reply from SaiTejaTalasila .

Tenant A needs to enable external sharing for the datasets, and users of Tenant B need to register as guest users in Tenant A with the necessary permissions.

Tenant B can connect to the external datasets using the direct query method and build their own composite models and reports on top of the shared data without manually transferring data between organizations.

They can then use these shared datasets in their own tenants and create composite models by combining the shared datasets with their own internal data.

After creating the composite models, Tenant B can publish these new datasets to the Power BI service. Once published, they can access the new datasets in the Power BI service in their own tenants and build further reports on them.

Hi,

All tenants are in same organisation or they different.Whether they do have access to all data sources which your semantic model uses?
