Hi RémyA ,
The error you’re encountering while adding Metrics in Power BI Fabric appears to be related to configuration or backend issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve it:
1. Verify Fabric Capacity Configuration
- Ensure that Fabric Capacity is enabled and configured correctly for the tenant.
- Check if the Metrics creation feature is enabled in Admin Portal:
- Navigate to Power BI Admin Portal.
- Under "Capacity settings," confirm that Metrics creation is enabled for the Fabric Capacity.
2. Validate Licensing and Permissions
- Confirm that your account has the required Fabric or Premium license to create Metrics.
- Ensure you have the necessary workspace roles (e.g., Admin, Member, or Contributor) to create and edit Metrics in the workspace.
3. Test in a Different Environment
- Attempt to create Metrics in a different workspace or tenant where you know Fabric Capacity is functioning properly. If the issue persists:
- It may indicate a broader issue with the Power BI service.
4. Check for Service Outages or Known Issues
- Visit the Power BI Service Status page: Power BI Service Status.
- Verify if there are any ongoing outages or issues specific to Metrics or Fabric Capacity.
5. Clear Cache and Try Again
- Sometimes, browser cache or local storage issues can cause unexpected errors:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Open Power BI in an incognito/private browsing window.
- Retry the Metrics creation process.
6. Collect Diagnostic Logs
- Click on Technical Details in the error message to collect detailed logs.
- If possible, enable diagnostic logging in Power BI to capture additional error details.
7. Contact Microsoft Support
- If the issue persists, it could be a backend issue requiring intervention from Microsoft.
- When contacting support, provide:
- The full error details (from the "Technical Details" section).
- Tenant ID, Workspace ID, and Capacity information.
- Steps you’ve already tried to resolve the issue.
Likely Causes and Resolutions
Possible Cause Solution
| Configuration issue in Fabric Capacity | Verify settings in the Admin Portal. |
| Backend service bug | Check Power BI Service Status; escalate to support. |
| Licensing mismatch | Ensure you have the correct license for creating Metrics. |
| Permissions issue | Ensure your workspace role allows for Metrics creation. |
Please mark this as solution if it helps you. Appreciate Kudos.
