Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to use Metric sets with Power BI Premium Per User licensing (for the Workspace and for individual users)? I believe everything has been set correctly in the Admin portal to allow this, but when I try click the + New Item button in the PPU Workspace and select Metric, I get this message:
The Microsoft documentation suggests Metric sets are available with PPU (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/create-metric-sets - "Create the metric set in a Fabric or Power BI Premium Per User workspace." - but I can't figure out how to do this and I suspect it's not possible.
Thanks!

Hi @servemn,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Community Forum.
Although Microsoft documentation suggests Metric Sets (preview) are supported in Power BI Premium Per User (PPU) workspaces,
Please follow below steps to resolve;
1.Fabric Metric Sets require a Fabric capacity (F SKU) and are not supported in PPU workspaces, even if tenant settings are enabled.
2.The error message indicates the workspace is on PPU, not Fabric capacity.
3.Use a Fabric-backed workspace to create Metric Sets.
4.If you're tracking KPIs, consider using Power BI Scorecards, which are fully supported in PPU.

Hi @servemn,

Thank you @GilbertQ for the helpful response.
Microsoft documentation confirms that Metric sets (preview) are supported in Power BI Premium Per User (PPU) workspaces. However, this feature is disabled by default and needs to be explicitly enabled by a Fabric administrator.
Please follow below steps to resolve the issue;
1.Please ask your admin to go to:
Admin Portal → Tenant Settings → “Users can create metric sets (preview)”
And Make sure the setting is enabled for your user or group.
2.make sure your workspace is assigned to PPU capacity via workspace settings.

Hi Pavan, we have set things up exactly the way you suggest, but it doesn't help. As @GilbertQ suggests, the documentation appears to be outdated. Ben

Thanks Pavan. I think the documentation should be clearer, ideally. The problem with Scorecards and Metrics - as available for Pro or PPU users/workspaces - is that the functionality if very limited, e.g., RLS is not supported, etc. So those options are not going to provide what we need. Hopefully some kind of Fabric-per-user licensing is offered in future because it seems odd to hide the Metric set option behind that paywall given that - of ALL the Fabric functionality - this is the ONLY thing we're interested in. We're obviously not going to triple or quadruple our costs just for that. Thanks anyway.
Hi @servemn
I think that the documentation has not been updated to reflect that this is a premium feature only.
