Matrix visual column width problem started April 25-26th
Thank you for a better response. I already submitted a Microsoft support ticket on the first working day after Microsoft's change broke the report. I started this forum post while they were still trying to say that they hadn't made any changes that weekend, and that it was a problem purely with my report configuration.
This has now been acknowledged by Microsoft

Hi DataIsGreat ,
I was able to find an active Known Issue on the Microsoft Fabric Support page related to Matrix visual column widths changing or resetting unexpectedly in Power BI Service, and it appears to match the behavior described in this thread.
Based on the details shared there, Microsoft has acknowledged that column widths may not stay preserved after publishing and that the issue can happen even without report changes. Since you already have an active support ticket, it would be best to continue following up through that channel for further updates or fixes from Microsoft.

This issue was resolved for us on May 12 when we closed our support ticket. We are in the North Europe region.
