We are maintaining more than 100+ reports in power BI services in production. All the datasets are maintained with service account. Every quarter planning to change the password of service account as part of security policy.
When we change the password of service account, we are facing the problem of report refresh failure of all the 100+ reports. After logging with new password for each report then we need to perform the manual refresh. Is there any possibility to dynamically update the password for service account in power BI workspaces reports without refresh failure.
Thanks in Advance
Powershell Language.
We are using the datasources web or sharepoint. For this we are using the Microsoft AD service accouont.

There is no "report refresh" in the service. You probably mean semantic model refresh.
But what you are more likely after is to update the gateway connection credentials

Hi @lbendlin
Thank you for your response regarding the dataset failure due to the service account password change. I understand your point about updating the gateway connections and credentials.
However, I’m still facing an issue and would like to get more detailed guidance on how to proceed. Specifically, I’d appreciate step-by-step instructions on how to:
1. Update the credentials in the gateway.
2. Ensure that all necessary configurations are made to avoid future failures after password changes.
To give more context, I’ve attached a screenshot of the error message I received during the refresh failure. This may help in diagnosing the problem.
Could you kindly provide more detailed instructions based on the error and my current setup?
Looking forward to your guidance.
which framework/language are you planning to use for the API calls? Python? Powershell? something else?
