Mailchimp app empty fields

Hey guys,

I'm kinda new to this community and am not a pro in Power Bi either, but thanks in advance for taking effort in reading my question!

So for a while I've been using the Mailchimp connector in Power Bi Desktop tool, worked fine and I was very content with it. Just a while ago the Mailchimp connector has been removed from the desktop 'Get Data' data sources. But it appearantly is available as an app for the Power Bi web client/service (see https://appsource.microsoft.com/nl-nl/product/power-bi/pbi-contentpacks.pbiapps-mailchimp?tab=Reviews

I'm able to download it and connect our MailChimp account. But the visuals stay empty. 'Leeg' is Dutch for 'Empty' 🙂

Has anyone used this app and maybe knows if there is a way to fix it or maybe knows another way to visualize MailChimp data?

Extracting data from MailChimp and importing it in power bi manually is not doable, since we send at least 2 or more e-mails per week.

Thanks for thinking with me 🙂

KR,

Esther

    Hi EstherxIrene ,

Haven't used Mailchimp yet but I think these blank visuals should be filled with data value. Are you sure you have done this?

    Best Regards,

    Jay

      Hi Jay,

thanks for your reply! Data value have been inserted.. It's a predesigned dashboard so it should fill automatically, but i'm afraid the connector isn't working well 😞

  • Hi EstherxIrene ,

I'm facing the same problem as you and Mailchimp source disappeared from the desktop 'Get Data' data sources.

Are you still without the Mailchimp source on your desktop?

    Thank you,

    Maria

  • Hi EstherxIrene Since the Mailchimp service pack was deprecated, you would have to look for another way. As a workaround, maybe you can use a 3rd party connector, it can save you a lot of time compared to other options. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Mailchimp connector in the data sources list:

After that, you will have to first create a secret API key in your Mailchimp account and then using your credentials add your account to the platform.

Once you’ve done this, you can proceed and go to the “Preview and destination” step

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
