Long refreshes

Hello

I have a report that is HUGE and its refresh can take upto an hour.

The question I have is, the premium workspace has lots of other reports in, and I have another premium workspace that only has one or two reports in it. Would moving it into the second workspace speed up the refresh, or does it not matter which workspace its in, if the actual report is huge?

Thank you

Hi @Pricey79,

The workspace is not important, the next things are:

  • the Premium capacity where the workspace is part of. If both workspaces are part of the same capacity (e.g. a P1 or P2), then it doesn't make a difference to move the report.
  • the time of refresh could make a difference as more refreshes might be happening in the background and the capacity might be busy, contact your PBI (Capacity) Administrator for that, he/she can check that in the Admin Portal.
  • Could you implement incremental refresh with the dataset? That way only the initial load would be long, whereas the next refreshes will be incremental (daily/weekly) loads?

@nickyvv

Thank you. I will give incremental refresh a try.

Thanks.
