Login loop - Issues with credentials in PowerBI Desktop

Hello there, community

We are facing this problem from a few days ago: several users in our AD cannot login to PowerBI Desktop.

We click on the Log in button, located in the upper right corner, to introduce our credentials. We enter an email, select the same email account in the list of previously used credentials, and then the problem appears.

This is the moment when the view freezes with the message "Trying to login":

A screenshot from a login attempt to PowerBI desktop, showing the message "Intentando iniciar sesión..."

The process fails, without any error message, and asks us for an email address again. It starts a loop from which we can't get out and we can't log in.

Our team is stuck in this situation, what can we do? What is happening?

Any help is welcome.

  • Hi All,

There is an existing ICM for this issue(ICM 285762606). Product team is investigating on this issue for a fix for it. Please be patient to wait for fixing. If there is any news, I will update it here.

    Thanks for your understating!

    Best Regards,

    Hi all,

This issue has been fixed in the msit environment and will be gradually deployed to the full environment over the next few weeks. Please be patient to wait for fixing.

    Thanks for your understating!

And this is a work-around for the issue:

    • When in the "Username page loop", simply click "Sign in options":

    • Then click "Sign in to an organization":

    • Once the users enter their credentials with the correct domain, they will be directed to the Password screen to finish logging in.

    Best Regards,
    Winniz

I have the same issue, please help!

  • This has been going on for over a week now! This is absolutely ridiculous, Microsoft needs to fix this ASAP!!

  • I had the same problem. Clicking the link to reset password and then immediately cancelling out of the next page solved it for me.

still not a solution from the support team, but nice workaround, thanks for sharing!

  • Experiencing this with two different customers now. Super frustrating. Anyone found a work around?
