I have a live dashboard that contains visualizations of which some use a live dataset and some use imported data. When the live data receives an update (about every minute), visualizations like gauges flash a bit and re-animate the gauge meter. However, a bigger issue is that after the update all of the visuals on the dashboard reload/reset randomly . They seem to reset themselves, showing just an gray visualization icon for a while and also any slicers on the page are reset, which is annoying.
This is how it looks (not sure if an animated gif will show up correctly):
The problem started quite recently and I tried to roll back all of the changes that were made to the real-time dataset, but it made no difference. The only thing that was added back then was just one column and a simple measure. Also, to optimize the visualizations I also made some quite substantial reductions to the imported dataset that is being visualized in the same dashboard. The whole dashboard is now much "lighter" than what it used to be, but the problem persists.
Also, it's weird that Power BI re-renders all of the tiles and resets all of the slicers, regardless if they are using different datasets (the other being updated every minute and the other every three hours).
When did it start?
Something like 2 weeks ago. Can't say for sure. I'm not aware of any drastic changes back then..
That's how rerendering works, especially when your query is slow. Make your query run faster.
