Hello community,
I have a problem where I would like to ask you!
We have about 100 power BI reports which has been published i Power BI service. I would like to create a list of alle data sources which our 100 reports use. Is that a method to list alle the data sources i my case?
Thank you!

Hi @HaiVN
There is no built-in “export all data sources” button in the Power BI Service.
For a few datasets, you can check manually in dataset >> Settings >> Data source.
For many datasets (like your 100 reports), the only supported way is through the Power BI REST API or PowerShell (Get-PowerBIDataSource) that’s exactly what Microsoft documents.
If you are a Power BI admin, the Admin Portal shows gateway/cloud data sources, and Lineage view helps you see sources per workspace, but those are not bulk exports.
Hi @HaiVN ,
We wanted to kindly follow up regarding your query. If you need any further assistance, please reach out.
Thank you.

Hi @HaiVN ,
In addition to what @Shahid12523 and @rohit1991 mentioned, sharing few links for references.
There's another community post discussing on this one.
Thanks,

Best method: Use the Power BI REST API to loop through all reports and extract their data sources programmatically.
Alternative options:
- Power BI Admin Portal (manual logs)
- External tools like Tabular Editor or Power BI Helper (if you have PBIX files)
- Fabric lineage view (if you're using Fabric)

Thank you for your message!
I can not find 'Power BI Admin Portal (manual logs)' from my user account. Can you show me where can i find it ?
Hi @HaiVN ,
The Power BI Admin Portal is only available if your account has Service Admin rights. Just to clarify, there isn’t a section called manual logs in the portal. What it does provide are options such as:
Log Analytics (if connected): Using Azure Log Analytics in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Workspace monitoring : Workspace monitoring overview - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
These help with monitoring usage and governance but do not give a direct export of all data sources. For your requirement of listing sources across many reports, the recommended approach is still the Power BI REST API or PowerShell (Get-PowerBIDataSource).
Have you had any progress in trying with the REST API?
Please reach out for further assistance.
Thank you.
