Links to spreadsheets set to NOT refresh
I have a dataset that has many datsources but includes data from a spreadheet that itself is linked to other spreadsheets (refreshing to it when it is closed will cause erros if those other spreadsheets are not open). It is not madly dynamic (only updated once a month) so the spreadsheet is in my model and it loads to enable people to report on the data but I have set it NOT REFERESH. I just refresh to it once a month. The little i note by that function says you remove the refresh from desktop and the service so all good.
But the service will not let me schedule refresh on the published dataset because it insists on having a the datasource added to the gateway for this spreadhseet (and I cannot do this just now). Why does it need that datasource in the gateway if the only table using that datasource is set to NOT REFERESH? ???

HiAnonymous ,
"Include in report refresh" option only works for Power BI Desktop, it doesn't impact the refresh process in Power BI Service.
In Power BI Desktop, when you disable "Include in report refresh" option, data will not update in report view of Power BI Desktop after you click "Refresh" button in Desktop.
This option is not supported in power bi service now, perhaps you can submit the requirement to ideas and add your comments there to make this feature coming sooner: Power BI Ideas
Hope it helps.
