Linking Server Account to Server On Premise gateway

Hi All,

Please can you guide me on the correct way to setup a service account on my On prem gateway?

I have created an on prem gateway in DWH using my work email address, the gateway links DWH to MS Azure, Power Bi etc.  

Every month I have to change my AD password were I have to restore the connections to each one of the applications. I am trying to change the gateway account to a service account. 

However I keep getting this error: 

The specified username is invalid.

The specified username is invalid.

at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.UnsafeNativeMethods.IADs.Get(String bstrName)
at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.CredentialValidator.BindSam(String target, String userName, String password)

I cann log into this account and setup a different gateway on another server. Is there something else that I am missing?

It would appear that you have to have your new account have the right connection details on the DWH server?

The account has been created in SQL to access the databases.

have you created the data source connection in the Power BI Service to connect to your SQL Server with the new SQL account?
