Line chart with X Axis having Date Hierarchy loses the continuous on workspace

In Power BI Desktop i have a line chart with a date field in the X axis set to a hierarchy (YEAR, QUARTER, MONTH) i tried, with and without day and it did not make difference because my dates are all 1st of the month.

I updated the setting to continuous and i see the dates correctly. I have 4 years of data, and it shows a nice flowing lines and showing only certain labels as expected. However, when i publish it to the workspace, i no longer see the lines as they were with the specific labels. Instead it shows it as if it was categorical, where i see every single period and a huge scroll bar.

If i change the X axis to no longer be set to a Hierarchy (using the same exact field), it works as expected in desktop and in the workspace, where it looks continuous. I lose the huge scroll bar and get only select labels, as expected. However, the mouse over on the line will no longer show the quarters

I have tried everything i can think of, including switching on and off the setting for include periods with no data, changing the graph, deleting and re-adding the graph. nothing fixes it on the workspace.

any help would be greatly appreciated

The line chart is showing up as if it was categorical instead of continuous when i use the date hierarchy. meaning, it is showing every single period and a long scrollbar. typically when i do continuous on a date it will display just several periods and not have a scroll bar.

looks like the same issue that others are having date hierarchy as x-axis - Microsoft Power BI Community
