Limit access to the dataset

Hello,

I've a dataset that is common to the employees of my company.

I would like when a user logs into a DashBoard, they only see their own information and not that of their colleagues. The Dashboard is published on a common workspace.

I've the identifiers of these colleagues and I've the information that determines which data it can view. What is the best technical solution for this?

Thanks

@BigLo

This can be achieved with Row Level Security (RLS). You can create roles according to your requirement and assign it to the users who have access to the dataset.

Once the roles are assigned to those users, they will only see their respective data as you would like.

@BigLo @When you create a role and assign it to a user, it is expected that the user has read only access. If the user has edit access on the dataset, RLS will not work.

Since we give read only permission, the end user will not be able to download the report. Hence he won't be having access to any underlying data.

Hi,

Do the users to whom the data is restricted need to have a Power BI account?

In my case they are external users and not all of them have power bi accounts. I just want to send them a link to the dashboard so that the data is restricted to their data only.

See my post, please

Great! Very simple and efficient.

But if the user download the pbix file, he don't have access to underlying data?

Is there another vulnerability that I should pay attention to?
