Issue with Power BI Online Connection to Azure PostgreSQL - Missing Assembly 'System.Runtime.Compile

I am experiencing an issue when trying to connect Power BI Online to my Azure PostgreSQL database. The error message I receive is:

Failed to update data source credentials: An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Could not load file or assembly 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Unsafe, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.' Activity ID: ff4337ed-2f6e-4865-9c33-5c843b9568ae Request ID: a6dc0300-c46a-f794-1488-7d735cecfb51 Status code: 400 Time: Tue Sep 17 2024 01:28:57 GMT-0300 Service version: 13.0.24209.56 Client version: 2409.2.20860-train Cluster URI:

The error seems to indicate that a required assembly or dependency is missing in the connection between Power BI Online and Azure PostgreSQL. As this is a cloud service, I do not have control over installing drivers or managing dependencies.

Could you please provide guidance on how to resolve this issue in the Power BI Online environment?

Thank you for your assistance.

Good afternoon everyone! Check your reports because the error is solved. At least in my case where I connect to a base that is located on a web server.
Greetings!!

The issue with patching the datasource credentials for our Postgresql database has been resoved as of 10/01/24. We heard back that the Product team has deployed a patch to fix the issue and is in the process of replicating it to all the regions.

We also face this issue, was anyone able to successfully connect to Azure Postgres?

Yes, I can connect to Azure Database for PostgreSQL via Power BI Desktop Version: 2.122.746.0 64-bit (October 2023), but I CAN NOT connect with same DB credentials to same database from Power BI Online (Services).
I can update (refresh) my data manualy in Power BI Desktop and to publish to Power BI Online...

Any update or timeline when this will be fixed? Scheduled refresh on existing report works, but updating a new one with the Postgres Connection to Azure is still failing with the same error message.

I received an update from Microsoft support regarding the connection problem with Azure PostgreSQL. Here's what they said:

“We have checked this with our product group team, they have confirmed that there is an ongoing issue with our Product group team and the fix will be rolled out by 27th Sept. This is a tentative date. Please have a check on this on Monday, If the issue still exists, we will escalate this to our PG team.

I'll monitor the situation on the suggested date, and if the problem persists, they'll escalate it to the PG team."

Will it be an update to Power BI Desktop? Or update to Npgsql?

Needs to be an update for Power BI Online service. Refreshing in Power BI Desktop works on my side, if you have npgsql installed.

After the installation of Npgsql 4.1.14 https://github.com/npgsql/npgsql/releases I also have the issue on the Power Bi Desktop. Same error.

I have npgsql 4.0.10 installed and it works locally. Maybe try to install that version so it works locally. I can then publish the report to the online service but not refresh it online

It works locally with 4.0.10. But not in app service

Instead of adding this issue to "known issues," couldn't Microsoft simply review what code changed and revert it?  This is incredible.  We're paying X thousands of dollars per month for PowerBI and Microsoft adds a previously working critical feature to known issues instead of prioritizing, reverting, and fixing.

I have the same problem, on several client connections. What's the solution, Microsoft? We need a return, urgently. It is hindering the updating of data

i have the same problem, why is there no further answer here and preferably with a date until when the problem will be fixed? i don't want to come across as rushing, but many use power bi and the fact that microsoft takes so long for a solution is frustrating, we have no update in all reports for our daily business.

at least for all people who also have problems with the Refresh in the PowerBI desktop, i have a solution. It should help to install an older version of PowerBI.

The only update we have is that it's been added to the "Known Issues List" and the status is Open. @amrashrafyw

Neither of these soulutions have worked for me. Gateaway approach isn't convinient as cloud connection
