Issue with PNG Image Transparency and Background Color in Power BI Report Builder PDF Export
Hi Team，
I inserted an image as the cover component for the homepage in Report Builder. The image is in PNG format with a transparent background, and it contains white lines with varying levels of brightness.
After configuring, I published the report to Power BI Service, and the web page display looks fine. However, when I export the report to PDF, all the lines appear with the same color.

I tried converting the image to JPEG format and added a background color matching the report's background. While the background colors appear consistent in Power BI Service, they are different when exported to PDF.
Have you ever met the same issues? Do you have any ideas how can I deal with this issue?

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.Since PDF exports can handle transparency inconsistently, especially when flattening the image, you can only resolve this by removing transparency from the PNG image and using images with a solid colors.

Hi mshao - I think it is due to how Power BI Service and PDF export handle transparency and color rendering.If possible, avoid using elements with semi-transparency in the image. Replace them with solid lines or gradients that visually mimic the transparency.
If you're using Power BI Service to export to PDF, try exporting from Power BI Desktop or SQL Server Report Builder instead.Different tools might handle image rendering more consistently.
If you provide more details about the tools you're using (e.g., Report Builder version, editing tools for the PNG), I can assist further!

I use Power BI Report builder and even when I export PDF via Power BI report builder, the issue still exists.
The version of Power BI report builder is v15.7.1811.11
And the PNG is from figma and if you have any advice maybe i can change it via some tool.

And also I tried to add the same background of my picture both in PNG and JPEG format in RGB format.
But when I export pdf again, the color under the same RGB code display as different color. I don't know why and how can I deal with it.
It's not possible to set the picture for the whole page since there are some other components.

Export Power BI paginated report to a PDF File (Power BI Report Builder) - Power BI | Microsoft LearnYour issue is rooted in how pdf and jpg handle transparency, when a transparent PNG is added to a PDF, the transparency layer is often flattened (merged with a solid background color), leading to unexpected results in appearance.
PDFs do support transparency, but it is not handled in the same way and as well as PNG.
