Issue with Migrating On-Premises Gateway (Personal Mode)
I needed to migrate my On-Premises Gateway (Personal Mode) to a new PC. I downloaded the gateway software to the new PC and successfully installed it. The gateway says that it is online and ready to be used on the new PC. When I attempt to refresh a connection in the service it says the connections is offline and provides the following error:
Error code: UnknownError
Connection error: Unknown error
Cluster URI: https://api.powerbi.com

undefined: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 121840: Error when verify signature connection the target data source.

To resolve the gateway issue:
- Revalidate Credentials: In Power BI Service, go to Settings > Manage Gateways and re-enter the data source credentials.
- Check Gateway Mapping: Ensure the dataset is linked to the new gateway in Gateway Connection settings.
- Verify Network: Confirm the new PC can access https://api.powerbi.com and other required endpoints.
- Update Gateway: Install the latest version of the On-Premises Gateway (Personal Mode).
- Check Certificates/Paths: Ensure required certificates or file paths are correctly configured on the new PC.
- Re-register Gateway (Optional): If needed, unregister and re-register the gateway using the migration key.
- Test Connection: Test the connection in the dataset settings.
If the issue persists, enable gateway logs for debugging or contact Microsoft Support.
