Super UserIssue Sharing Power BI Reports in Power BI Service
Hello,
I’m experiencing an issue when trying to share a Power BI report with my colleagues.
When I click on the Share option and enter the recipient’s email address, I receive the following error message:
"This report can't be shared because of your organization's settings."
Steps I followed:
Opened the report in Power BI Service.
Clicked on the Share button.
Entered the recipient’s email address.
Received the error message mentioned above.
Could this be related to licensing requirements or admin settings in the organization?
Is there an alternative way to share the report, such as Publish to Web or providing Workspace Access?

Hi Nabha-Ahmed,
yes this means there is a setting in the Tenant to forbid that option
These are the opetions you have for sharing
- share button (link) - not a chance for you as per above
- publish to web (careful for the privacy)
- publish to workspace and give access (remember best practices of separating semantic models workspace from reports workspace
- create an app and publish that (so no need of workspace access, a neat approach)

To confirm if this is related to licensing, check if both you and recipient have a Power BI Pro (or Premium Per User) license unless the report is hosted in a Premium capacity workspace.
If your Workspace is on Premium Capacity and you do not want to add your colleagues as a Viewer in your workspace, consider using APP, in this case,
App creator still needs Pro (or PPU).
Consumers can have Free licenses, as long as the workspace is Premium-backed.
This is why many organizations buy Premium capacity, it lets a small group of report authors with Pro licenses share to a much larger free-user audience.

Hi everyone
encountered the same issue when trying to share a report. After trying the following, it worked:
Moved the report to a Workspace and granted colleagues Viewer access.
This allowed them to open the report directly without using the Share button.
Creating a Power BI App from the Workspace is another neat option, which lets you share the report without giving full Workspace access.
Note: The root cause of this issue is the organization's Tenant settings, not the license.
Result: After following these steps, the issue was resolved and colleagues could access the report successfully.
