We are making a report that takes data from our dataverse and would like to display it to our customers. We have quite a few customer (about 1000), so sharing for each and everyone of them is a chore and since all the infos comes from this one source, we though we could make a power bi app (using template app) and filter using a parameter we will provide them. When we test it in our own tenant, it all works fine, though we need to authenticate the application using oauth2, which is ok for us.
Once we try with one customer though it stops working because the custome needs to login to our tenant which is not possible as he is not a user and we get an error :
SQL: "RetrievePrivilegeForUser: The user with id b3571f5c-5759-ee11-be6f-0022483d05a3 has not been assigned any roles. They need a role with the prvReadContact privilege."
Which clearly state the the user (I check the guid, it's an external user in this case because she has access to our tenant as guest) does not have access to dataverse, which makes sense.
So my question is: Can we force the PowerBI App to ignore this and just use the credential that are provided when we design the report, like it is in our own tenant and is yes how ?
@davidbrunelle Seems like a perfect use case for Power BI Embedded (A SKU's). Other option would be to give them read access to the Dataverse entities they need. Either way though, I don't see how you get around the need to essentially share something with all of those users/companies.
This sounds a little extreme doesn't it ? I though the whole idea of a PowerBI Template App was to prevent this.
