Is is possible to auto refresh a pbi report stored in sharepoint?

My report is stored on sharepoint, which means that whenever I save the report on pbi desktop, it is automatically saved on sharepoint. However, I want my reports to automatically refresh once a day, for example, even if I dont save it on desktop, just like it would if I was working with the powerbi service.
I already import the report from the sharepoint to my pbi workspace and set up a scheduled refreshed, however I am under the impression that it would only refresh the semantic model on pbi service, but not on the sharepoint.
My team only uses the report from sharepoint.
(English is not my first language, sorry.)

Hello @YC1218

No. A Power BI report (.pbix) stored in SharePoint cannot auto-refresh

  • A .pbix file in SharePoint is static and only refreshes when opened and refreshed in Power BI Desktop, then saved.
  • Scheduled refresh works only in the Power BI Service and refreshes the semantic model (dataset) there.
  • That refresh does not update the .pbix file stored in SharePoint.

Hi @YC1218

All reports are always rendered via the Power BI service. So if you set up a schedule refresh in the Power BI service, your users will then see the updates to the data. If you make changes to the visuals in the Power BI report, you will then have to upload that into the Power BI service for your users to see the change.
