Is Power BI Free in Teams?
MS said (twice) in a recent confernece that consuming Power BI reports if free in MS teams. a new feature in Oct apparently.
We have created and shared a BI report in Teams (i have pro licence) as a tab in a channel.
I have made sure the users of the team have permissions to the report & data (non of them have Power BI Pro). but they get "this report isnt available"
any ideas whats going wrong would be appreciated.
thanks
Stephen

stephenmcgill Well, if that is true it is definitely new. Used to have to have at least an Embed license.

But, if it is new, sometimes it takes a while to roll out new functionality to all tenants.

good point - perhaps its not fully rolled out Greg_Deckler
it was announced at the Business Applications Summit and i asked about it then in the chat and they said yes it was free.
i then asked again a the Commnity webinar and Karuana Gatimu said "you dont need a pro licence to view reports" and went on to say so long as the person creating the report had Pro then people consuming it in Teams was covered by the office 365 licence.
i hope its a case of it not being rolled out yet as opposed to MS not being as clear as they had thought.

Hi stephenmcgill ,
This is divided into two situations:
1. All your users have pro permissions
2. Only the report creator has pro permission, but the report is located in Power BI Premium capacity (EM or P SKU)
In the second case, the rest of your users do not need pro permissions. Please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-collaborate-microsoft-teamsIf this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.
