Internal Users Cannot View Scorecard Shared on PowerBi Service
Thanks for the response, Akash Varuna. I already shared the scorecard through the Power BI App and through the Service. It was still not viewable to my colleagues. I don't think giving permission to view the dataset or workspace would change anything since it's the scorecard view which they have challenges with.
After much troubleshooting, I found the answer. When you start new scorecards, you need to go into the settings and select the "permissions," then select "edit" under the "default" role. You can create additional roles that will allow users to see only the goals you want them to. Because my default role had 0 goals selected to view, my colleagues couldn't see anything. But when I checked off goals in the view column, they could see each of those goals. I even created an additional role so only those goals pertaining to that Office will show up for users from that Office. See sample below with important selections highlighted in red. 👇
However, I now want to give a few high-level management users the ability to see all goals for different Offices, but also be able to switch roles and just see goals for one office, or another office at a single glance. This is because of our multiple Offices. I tried giving these users a couple Office role views, but instead they see all the scorecard goals. How do I assign a higher level manager several scorecard roles for several offices, but they control which Office goal views they see at a glance? Open to any ideas from anyone here.
Hi DigestDataHumbl ,
Currently, Power BI Scorecards don’t support role switching like “view as Office A” or “view as Office B.” The system is designed for controlling who can see what goals, but not for giving the same person multiple perspectives they can flip between.
in this scenario i will encourage you to submit your detailed feedback and ideas via Microsoft's official feedback channels, such as the Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Feedback submitted here is often reviewed by the product teams and can lead to meaningful improvement.
Thanks,
Prashanth
