Installing a Gateway without a dedicated server

I need a Gateway to read an Access DB stored on a netwrok drive into my PBI report. I don't have a server to install the Gateway on. I'm looking for alternatives. I explored using Sharepoint instead of a Gateway but it seems that would make it difficault to update the Access DB. I also tried using my notebook as the Gateway but that only works when my notebook is connected to the network. Any suggestions are appreciated.

  Thanks

Hi @U156531

You could use your notebook as the gateway, but your notebook would need to be online and connected to the Internet when the refreshing is occurring.

Hi @U156531 ,

I still think installing a personal gateway is the easiest solution. If you don't want to install, the virtual network (VNet) data gateway helps you to connect from Microsoft Cloud services to your Azure data services within a VNet without the need of an on-premises data gateway. The VNet data gateway securely communicates with the data source, executes queries, and transmits results back to the service. But it's too expensive to learn.

Hi @GilbertQ , @shravanreddy133 ,I agree with you all.

Hi @U156531 ,

Regarding your question, since you need to refresh the data, I think installing the gateway on your laptop is the easiest and most effective solution, make sure your connection mode is Import, and make sure the computer where the gateway is installed is not turned off, is in sleep mode, and is disconnected from the network when you need to refresh the dataset.

I have installed a personal gateway on my notebook but my notebook is not always connected to the network. Is there an alternative?

Thanks
