Installing Data Gateway on VM

Hi,

I've created a few reports for my company that should be refreshed once per hour. Until now, I've installed a personal mode of on-premise data gateway on my company laptop, so when I was offline the reports refresh haven't been working. Right now I want to change it and install the data gateway on VM. It's my first time when I am doing such a thing and I don't know how to get through this because I am the only one person that is working in Power BI. We have a embedded capacity and I am sharing my reports to others by sending them a link, because they don't have a pro license. My plan was to install data gateway standard mode on my PC, and then give the access to the VM account. My question is, should VM also have a pro license? Or just access to the embedded capacity will be enough to install a data gateway and set up the refresh?

Hi. The way to to go would be if you can read the data sources from inside the VM, then just install the gateway in standard mode inside the VM. That way it will work 24x7 and you won't need your laptop to be turned on or something like that.

You can find over internet examples of configuring standard mode, like this post: https://blog.ladataweb.com.ar/post/189013278236/powerbigateway-configurar-una-actualización

I hope that helps,
