Initiate full refresh on dataset set up for incremental refresh

Hello.

I have a dataset set up for incremental refresh. It stores the last 5 years of data and refreshes the last 2 months, as this is generally the maximum timeframe in which the source data may change. However, there are odd occasions where this timeframe might be a year.

For these instances, what is the best way to initiate a full refresh? Does manually refreshing the pbix file on Desktop do a full refresh? Or do I have to deselect incremental refresh on all the tables set up for it?

Thanks

Phil

Hi,

I think you should reset your incremental refresh policy on Power BI Desktop and republish it to Power BI Service.

Then you can achieve entire refresh by clicking refresh function.

Hi there

What I typically do when a full refresh is needed is open up the PBIX and change the RangeStart and RangeEnd parameters to be the entire date range.

I then upload this PBIX to the Power BI Service, so that the report contains all the data. My understanding is when this is done, because it is an updated dataset, in the background it will do a full refresh.
