I work for an organisation that is developing an application and that application has Power BI report in it. That application would be used by a chain of hospitals. The Power BI report is published on a pro licence account. Our organisation is hosting the client's data in own server.
My questions on this scenario are -
1. What Power BI licence our organisation should have?
2. Does that chain of hospiuatl too requires Power BI licenced version? If yes then which licence? Does each chain should have individual Power BI licence?
Hi. When building an app that embeds power bi, then you can own the login at the app to control the access. That means users can have a custom login developed by you. In order to let PowerBi legally allow you that, you need a dedicated capacity at the Workspace. You can go for Power Bi Embedded, Fabric or Premium. The only PowerBi Pro licences would be for developing and publish the reports to Power Bi Service. Then you can just embed all that at the web app and let consumer/viewers use the app with custom login.
If you just provide PowerBi, it can be challenging to build this. Taking care about who should see what, rls, login, security, etc. If you don't want to get your hands in that big app development and reduce the efforts there, like https://pibi.cloud
It's at the market https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/pidata.pi-soft-pibi?tab=overview
I hope that helps,
