Incorrect Region selected on P1 is it safe to deactivate and recreate

Our Admin incorrectly selected the wrong region on a new P1 capacity. Is there any risk to the workspaces and reports by deactivating and recreating? At worst "Free" Users loose access while the P1 is getting reallocated.

Thank you all for the feedback. So we did the move and it had the intial intedned effect. All workspaces were removed and needed to be reassigned to the new capacity.
However there was one issue. Any report stored as a large model couldnt be accessed or downloaded as the data resides in teh orginal Region and isnt accessable through the new region. 
So if you ever planning this make sure to have a copy of the orginal report or take off large model first.

Hi, @DarylF 

Based on your description, if an administrator mistakenly selects the wrong area for a new P1 capacity, corrective action can be taken without significant risk to the workspace and reports.


1. deactivate the P1 capacity and then recreate it using the correct zone. in the process. free users may temporarily lose access to the P1 capacity while it is being reallocated.

2. precautions. ensure that you back up any critical data or configuration associated with the P1 capacity before proceeding.
3. inform affected users of the planned downtime so that they are aware of the temporary outage.
4. After recreating the P1 capacity in the correct area, verify that all workspaces and reports are functioning as expected and confirm that user access has been restored.


Here is an example of an SKU upgrade where downtime lasted a minute and a half during the upgrade. you can redeploy the P1 capacity during a time period when users are not utilizing it as often as they should be.

Move the workspaces off the P1 temporarily, recreate the P1 and then move the workspaces back on.
