In what cases does the report ID / link for a published report changes?

Hi!

We have noticed that there are some cases when the links to published Power Bi reports change after we have republished them.

Although it does not happen every time. I am trying to figure out when this behavior happens.

Does anyone have any input regarding this?

My recent user case is the following:

I published a report with the name "OT" to a workspace Sales N.

Then I downloaded the pbix from the dataset ... (in order to make sure that I get the most recent version of the report).

Made some layout changes (page size, text size).

Republished it to the same workspace, first under another report name: "OT_short",  and then saved it under the original name "OT" in the desktop, published and replaced the original report "OT".

The original report was previously shared with a user and had the following link:

The link above is not working and the new link to the report is following:link 2.jpg
Any tips for what we SHOULD NOT DO, not to cause the link changes?

Depends on your licensing situation.

In a premium environment the most likely cause is that you removed the underlying dataset from the workspace and then loaded it up again. That will kill all the links and put you in panic MOC mode.
