Hello,
I am trying to add New columns to my source data in Excel, Refresh the report created in Power Bi service. However, the newly added columns doesn't show up in my data in power bi service in Mac Machine. Does Mac doesn't support? What is the solution?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi @vikramv ,
This issue does not seem specific to Mac. Power BI Service behaves the same across platforms because it's browser-based. The problem typically arises from how Power BI handles schema changes in the source file, especially Excel.
1.Try to look for steps like Promote headers, changed type, or any column-specific transformations.
Update or remove steps that reference old column structures.
2. If your Excel file changed from a sheet to a table or vice versa, Power BI may fail to locate the correct data.
3. If you're connected to a dataset in Power BI Service and not directly to the Excel file, you may not be able to transform the data. Try to re-import the Excel file from scratch in Power BI Desktop and publish again
Thank you @Sahir_Maharaj for your valuable insight and prompt response on the query.
Hope this helps!

Hello @vikramv,
The Power BI model doesn't automatically detect those new columns, even after refresh (unless you update the data model in Power BI Desktop)
You can view reports and interact with the Power BI Service on Mac, but you cannot edit or update the .pbix file natively because Power BI Desktop is Windows-only.
I recommend to perhaps use Parallels or Boot Camp to run Power BI Desktop. Or ask a colleague with Windows access to update the .pbix model and republish.
Hope this helps.
