Import Table from Power BI Semantic Model
- 2 years ago
Hi. By default, PowerBi Dataset connectors, you can't import a Table. However, there is a workaround for this but only works for paid capacity (ppu, fabric, embed or premium). If you have the Semantic model in a diamond workspace, you can do this.
Instead of using Get Data and pick the Power Bi Semantic model connector, go to the Analysis Services connector and complete the address with the one that shows the Workspace at the Premium setting:
That will let you connect and impor ta table from the model.
I hope that helps,

Does this only work for the default semantic model or also for additional semantic models?

Hi!
I run into a similar problem that I needed to import the table from a premium (diamond) workspace. Everything works fine until I publish my new report to the service, in a pro workspace, and in order to set a scheduled refresh I need to configure my credentials. For the table imported using this method what should the credentials be? I try my microsoft account credentials but it does not work. Is it something I can find in the premium workspace?
PS. In my desktop I can use my microsoft credentials to connect and refresh the table in the new report.
Thank you in advane. - tommylee20242 years agoFrequent Visitor
i dont even have the option of connecting live, or import, i can only direct query other semantic models.
