Images in Line chart

Hi All

I would like to have Images in Line chart Visual similar to Tableau. Example, by Gender to show trend.

Please let me know if there is a way to achieve this.

Thanks for inputs.

  • Hi abpgupta ,

This is not something that you can just do by default.  However, there are a number of ways to get there I believe.

You might create the images and put them as tooltips on top of the line chart.

You may need to create your own icons/images with the SVG creator.  And, you could use some visuals with this one like the "Animator for Power BI" or "Synotpoic Panel" by OKVI

If you are willing to go with a different visual type, it is much easier to inset images such as explained here:  Display images in a table, matrix, or slicer in a report - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

You could use a chart with images (like a stacked chart) like the "Symbol Chart" by pbi-consultants.  Or, you could use the "Image By CloudScope" visual.

There are other visuals that might be useable as well.

    Hi abpgupta ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

Power BI does not natively support embedding images directly into line chart data points like Tableau does.

Please try below workarounds and custom visuals

    1. Infographic Designer Custom Visual

It allows you to replace data points with images (e.g., male/female icons) and supports stacked or grouped visuals. While it’s typically used with bar/column charts, you can simulate a trend by aligning visuals horizontally and using categorical axes.

    2. Overlaying Images on Card or Line Visuals

Create separate measures for male and female percentages. Use Card visuals to display values. Overlay gender icons using the Selection Pane. Use bars or shapes to simulate fill levels or trends.
