Hello all,
I've been milling over an issue that some of my users have brought to me. There are a number of reports that receive updates, tweaks, or changes often enough for it to be noticable to the users and they'd be appreciative if I and my team were to provide some sort of Update or Patch notes for reports.
We already have an info page full of things like contact info for the Data Owners and Data Stewards, the current state of the report, current audience and whatnot, but I'm trying to think through the best way to provide those patch notes in the report.
Is anyone doing something like this or have experience with attempting to provide this level of detail of reports to users?
Would having an online Excel document with a date column and an enhancments and known issues column be enough to dynamicaly provide users with a visual that populates with the latest patch notes work? Would it be better practice to put that table straight into the report itself using the Enter Data feature in the Desktop designer? Has anyone tried using the Notes feature for something like this or does that get too messy if users start engaging in convorsations there? Would a link to a OneNote somewhere outside of the service be better?
I'm mostly just brainstorming at this point but would like to have a good suggestion for the team in an upcoming meeting in a week or two.
Thanks for your feedback and thoughts in advance.
Patrick from Guy in a Cube did a video on this. Take a look and see if this may satisfy what you are looking for.
Thanks! This is a great suggestion.
The Guy in a Cube video led me to this How To Power BI video. It's essentially the same idea but I like the design a little better.
This is your chance to engage directly with the engineering team behind Fabric and Power BI. Share your experiences and shape the future.
