I want to save the money I use on a virtual machine I think might be redundant

Hi power Bi community

Right now I have a powerBI setup where I need to update multiple powerBI reports multiple times a day.

It includes two parts

1. A server with all the data I need (it can stay)

2. A virtual machine with all the powerBi reports and a gateway. This VM is always turned on so it can connect to the reports 24/7

My question is if there is a way to somehow just upload the data from the Power BI reports once from my stationary machine that I turn off everynight and still have the powerBI service collect the relevant data from my server 24/7

I hope my question makes sense otherwise feel free to ask me to elaborate on something.

I already have a Power BI Data Gateway on the virtual machine, but the problem is that if I place it on my pc and turn that pc off I cannot connet to it anymore.
Should I rather install the gateway on the server?

Yes, you can use Power BI Data Gateway to achieve this. Power BI Data Gateway is a client software that you can install on your on-premises server or computer. It acts as a bridge between your Power BI reports and the data source(s) you want to connect to.

And what if I turn off my On premises computer?
Will it still act as a bridge?
Some extra information: All my datasources are online
