I dont understand incremental refresh and dataflows

Hello!

I got this sharepoint list with 11k objects in it and its kinda heavy with alot of information.

I've done some statistics in Power Bi Desktop and publishing it to Power Bi Service, everything worked fine with scheduled refresh on the dataset in service for a while until the data got to big (Takes 2 hours to reload whole database with 11k objects everyday)

So I wanted to do incremental refresh....

I went into power bi service, created a dataflow, pasted the code from advanced editor in power bi desktop query into an empty query and saved. Now I got some dataflows in my power bi service... I setup the incremental refresh on my dataflow and pressed "Update" but my already existing report and dataset wont update with the new objects that are created in the sharepoint list, why is that? What might I be doing wrong?

Hi there

You have to configure the dataset to use Incremental refreshing. As far as I know SharePoint lists do not support incremental refreshing

You can view my blog post on how to complete incremental refreshing on any data source: https://www.fourmoo.com/2020/06/10/how-you-can-incrementally-refresh-any-power-bi-data-source-this-e...
