How to update a report with specific user login

Hello Team,

The below is my report requirement.

Need to create a PBI report and publish it to app workspace. Once the user access it from app workspace, it should pull his details as per the windows login id.

Could you please suggest me a way to update report with login user id.

Thanks,

Sandhya

Generally that's not how it is done, you typically use something like Row Level Security (RLS) for this.

If your reports are build on a backend DB like HANA, SQL or any other DB that support authenication protocol such as Kerberos then this can be archieved allowing the users to inherit the security defined for them in the Database via their windows login through Active directory.

I would suggest you do some reading on which authenicating protocol is support to your backend system(DB), once you have confirmed that, their is a lot information on how to pass the user windows ID to power BI services.

      Thank you,

        Hello Conarl_On_BI,

        Thanks for your response.

As per my understanding, users are accessing reports from power bi service irrespective of their access rights to DB.

So, is there any related document which can help me achieve this task.

        Thanks,

        Sandhya
