How to setup an automatic refresh in a report (on power bi service) using a vpn to connect to the db

I need to setup an automatic refresh in a report (on power bi service) using a vpn to connect to the database. Is it possible ? I tried with on premise data gateway but I dont see how to use a vpn into that ?

That can only (possibly) work if your VPN has split tunnel enabled so that your gateway can talk to the data source and to the Azure service bus at the same time.

Can you place the gateway next to the data source, on the other end of the VPN?
