How to send failed refresh email notifications to email outside organization?

Hi All,

I have a tenant that has no M365 nor exchange subscription, meaning no email capabilities inside organization, but have PowerBI service. In dataset refresh section there is a possibility to notify dataset owner or email that is from the organization but no possibility to send it outside organization. Are there other ways to notify users on failed dataset refreshes or to send email notification outside organization?

Hi @phenno

Here is my testing:

After inviting an external user as a guest user, you can send him an email that the semantic model refresh failed.

You can refer to the following documentation to invite external users as guest users: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-admin-azure-ad-b2b#planned-invites

@phenno there is a workaround.
you need to enable failed refresh notifications in dataset settings in power bi service.
everytime when a dataset fails to refresh you get an email to your inbox, use this subject line and create a Power Flow using Power automate. it is very easy to enable this flow. let me know if you need any explanation in further.

Can you please share the steps for the same?

I'm testing this option but it looks like it could be a solution for this. I will let you know if it works.

I received notification on email set to the additional (guest) account in Microsoft Entra. Thank you for the help, and thanks to the twitter people behind MSPowerBI account, pointing me to this forum.
