I am a new user in Power BI. I need to be able to see Semantic Models and Data Flows within a particular, existing Workspace in the Power BI service. They don't appear as listed for me there, even though I have access to the Workspace, and other people can see them listed in it. I've been told that I've been granted Admin role acess to this Workspace. How can I check in Power BI service to see what roles and permissions that I have for this Workspace, please? Thanks.
Solved! Go to Solution.
To verify your role, open the workspace → click the three dots next to the workspace name → Settings → Access, where you can see all assigned roles including your own. If you have Admin role but still cannot see Semantic Models and Dataflows, check that the content type filter at the top of the workspace is set to All.

PBI leaves u in item‑scope so the perm‑layer never loads; click the workspace name once and open Workspace→Access. If it still hides, flip to Lineage view to force a clean ws‑scope reload.
To check your role on that workspace, open it in the Power BI service and click Manage access (top right, sometimes hidden under the ... menu). It lists everyone with access and the role each person has, so you can confirm what you've been granted.
All four workspace roles (Admin, Member, Contributor, Viewer) can see semantic models and dataflows in the items list. The role only affects what you can do with them, not whether they appear. So if other people see items but you don't, it is almost always a content filter or you're on a different workspace with the same name. Set the filter at the top of the items list to All, and verify the workspace URL matches what your colleagues are using. The Lineage view is a quick way to confirm an item really lives in that workspace.
If it solved your issue, please mark it as the accepted solution and give it a kudos.
Best,
Shai Karmani
Hi – Thank you for the prompt response! I have that workspace open in List view, in the Power BI service. I do not see this: Manage access (top right, sometimes hidden under the ... menu).
Here is what I see in the top right:
