How to resolve Data Source error in Power BI Service

Hi All,

Need help with an error. Unable to find why this error happens and how to resolve this?

Data source error: You've exceeded the capacity limit for dataset refreshes. Try again when fewer datasets are being processed.

This issue is happening only when the report is refreshed from the Service. When refreshed in Power BI Desktop, the report refresh completes successfully

The Different sources used in the report include Azure SQL DB, Azure Kusto Cluster and Azure Databricks connector.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks & Regards,

I think this error has nothing to do with data sources. I guess your semantic model (dataset) is placed in a Premium/Fabric Capacity. for every capacity there is limit for number of datasets that refresh in parallel. Please check if you exceeding that limit: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/service-premium-what-is#semantic-model-sku-lim...

Hi @Thejeswar ,

As @tharunkumarRTK  said, A Premium capacity might throttle data refresh operations when too many semantic models are being processed concurrently. Throttling can occur in Power BI Premium capacities.

To resolve this error, you can modify your refresh schedule to perform the refresh operation when fewer semantic models are being processed. You can also increase the time between refresh operations for all semantic models in your refresh schedule on the affected Premium capacity.

Capacity level limit exceeded.

This error indicates you have too many semantic models running refresh at the same time, based on the capacity your organization has purchased. You can retry the refresh operation, or reschedule the refresh time to address this error.
