How to refresh only yesterday's data?

Hi,

Everyday we append a master data file to include data from yesterday.

We then refresh this master file in PowerBI to run our daily reports on the data.

These reports require all the data in the master file (they require yesterday's data and all previous data)

The problem is that the master file is becoming quite large.

When we do a "refresh" in PowerBI, PowerBI insists on reloading the entire master file rather than only loading the new rows of data from yesterday.

Is there a way to make PowerBI only load in the new data and not the entire file?

In our case the master file is a table in DB2, but we have the same problem if we append an Excel file and use that as the master file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can configure incremental refresh, Incremental refresh can significantly reduce data refresh duration and only refresh data that has changed , especially for large model tables.

Incremental refresh is supported only for workspaces on Premium capacities, and Incremental refresh policies are defined in Power BI Desktop and applied when published to the Power BI service.

You can learn more: Incremental refresh in Power BI Premium .

Best Regards,

Amy
