How to keep conditional formatting on a Card visual when pinning to a Dashboard?
Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding the behavior of Card visuals when pinning them to a Dashboard.
In my report, I have a standard Card visual with conditional formatting applied: if the number is negative, the font color changes to Red. This works perfectly and dynamic color updates as expected within the report.
However, when I pin this specific card as a tile to a Dashboard, it loses all conditional formatting and reverts to a standard card with default black text.
Is there a way to make the Dashboard honor this dynamic color formatting? If not, what workarounds or alternatives do you recommend to achieve this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
This is a known limitation of pinning a single Card tile to a classic Power BI Dashboard. The tile is rendered as a flattened snapshot, and most of the dynamic conditional formatting on Card visuals, including font color rules driven by a measure or value, does not carry over.
The reliable workaround is to pin the full report page as a Live page instead of pinning the single Card tile. In the report, open the page that contains the card, then use Pin a live page from the menu. The dashboard renders that page live, preserves every visual format including the conditional font color, and stays interactive.
If you only want the card to be visible, place it on its own dedicated report page sized small to roughly match a tile, then pin that page live. That gives you a card-sized tile while keeping the formatting intact.
If this works for you, kindly mark it as the solution and give a thumbs up.
