How to duplicate a directlake on onelake model

Your apporach is right, You can export your model as a PBIP (Power BI
) in Power BI Desktop, which gives you the model definition in a folder structure. You can then copy this folder, rename it, and open it as a new project in Power BI Desktop for further modification and testing.

I did not push the test, but for our case, we had a report with high cardinality, I move it to composite with Direct Lake for facts table, and I saw a pretty big bump in terms of perfomrance
But defineltiy, the best way to see if it is relevant for you, it is by making a test
Thanks, I didn't see that video yet. From where I stand, this appears to be the first formal acknowledgement from a Microsoft "FTE" that this funcationality should exist.
There was also a lot of discussion from Microsoft partners about it... but I was worried about the lack of acknowledgement from Microsoft itself.I've been rug-pulled by Microsoft a lot in my career and it hurts. These sorts of public-facing details from Microsoft are useful, since they allow us to judge the likelihood of rug-pulls in the future. (But there are no explicit guarantees about the possibility of rug-pulls. Even a GA is not a guarantee that a feature won't be eliminated within the next year or two)
