How to deploy Tabular Model built using Tabular Editor 2.17.2 to Power BI premium Gen2 ?

We have decided not to use paid Tabular editor 3 hence will be developing Tabular model using Tabular editor 2.17.2 -https://www.sqlbi.com/tools/tabular-editor/ .

Right now I m facing a problem where in I cannot deploy tabular  model to Power BI premium Gen2 workspace url  - powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/Test_user.

Model compabitibility -

The tabular editor doesnt take powerbi workspace url and expects Azure As model url( see below as reference)

Hi @Anonymous

What you need to do where it says Server, put in the XMLA Endpoint or the Workspace Connection as shown below

That will then allow you to deploy to the PBI Service

I would suggest using ALM Toolkit to deploy which has more granular control when making deployments.

@GilbertQ I was able to overcome this issue. I had user account which was not PowerBI admin therefore I switched the account and deployed the model using Tabular editor 2 . Overall Tabular editor is a buggy tool not perfect

Thanks @GilbertQ  , I get the below error when I tried both ways ( 1. Via Tabular editor 2. Via ALM toolkit)
