How to create 2 Power BI apps from 1 workspace?

I am trying to create 2 separate Power Bi apps from 1 workspace, but couldnt find an option.

  • Each Power BI workspace can only have one app published from it. The workspace to app relationship is one to one, so there is no built in way to publish two separate apps from the same workspace.

If your goal is to show different content or pages to different groups of users, use Audiences inside the single app. In the app setup, go to the Audiences tab, create two audiences, and assign the relevant pages and permissions to each one. That gives you the effect of two apps from one workspace.

If you actually need two fully separate apps, the only option is to put the content in a second workspace and publish a second app from there.

If this helped, a thumbs up and accepting the solution would be appreciated.

  • HI Varun313Tapco

As others have mentioned in this thread, the workspace-to-app ratio for Power BI apps is 1:1.
You can only have one Power BI Apps per workspace.

But this is not a new problem, why?
Because there is a solution to this problem.
Its called "Org Apps"(its preview feature) and its the answer to having many apps in one workspace.
The reason you are not seeing the Orgs Apps artifact is because you need to enable it in the tenant settings.

    • As Fabric Administrator, enable: From Settings > Admin portal > Tenant settings > Users can discover and create org apps (preview).
    • To create an org app item, a workspace also must be in a specific workspace type: Pro, Fabric trial, Premium capacity, or Fabric capacity.

There is some limitations also, but nothing that is a deal-breaker in my opinion.
If you think this is a way forward for your problem, then here is the documentation on how to get started, the difference between org apps and Power BI apps => https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/explore-reports/org-app-items
