How to connect to a Sharepoint folder/list and get managed metadata for every file?

Hello,

We are trying to connect to a Sharepoint list which has managed metadata.  Have tried several ways of doing this and in each case we hit a wall and it doesn't work:

(1) If we connect to this as a Sharepoint folder it does not show the managed metadata fields.

(2) If we use the oData connector and append /_vti_bin/listdata.svc - it does not work.  Does not show the managed metadata fields.

(3) If we connect to this as a Sharepoint Online list using version/implementation 1.0 - it throws an error saying there are too many fields.  I do not have a chance to even go in and delete fields as it errors out on step 1 of data load process.

(4) If we connect to this as a Sharepoint Online list using version/implementation 2.0/default - it DOES work but doesn't show the file level - just shows highest folder level.

(5) If we connect to this as a Sharepoint Online list using version/implementation 2.0/all - it throws an error saying there are too many fields.  I do not have a chance to even go in and delete fields as it errors out on step 1 of data load process.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi @dancarr22 ,

First of all, I sympathize and understand that you have encountered problems with a number of attempts, the following analysis of your problem, I hope to bring you help.

SharePoint Online list v2.0 as an example, it’s important to be aware of its limitations as outlined in the official documentation. One key limitation is the maximum of 12 join operations per query.

You can reuse these connectors by trying to create fewer columns. For more detailed information, you can refer to the official documentation on the Power Query SharePoint Online list connector here:Power Query SharePoint Online list connector - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Thanks @Anonymous - is there a definition of "join operations"?  Documentation states there is a maximum of 12 - though we don't have 12 managed metadata fields.
